Enjoy AmsterdamAmsterdam - also called "Venice of the North" - gets its attractiveness by its picturesque city centre with canals digged as half circles, 400 years old storehouses alongside, few cars and a lot of bicycles, museums of world respected painters such as Rembrandt and van Gogh, and the Singel fresh bulbflower market. On top of that it is the atmosphere of freedom and tolerance and the open-mindness and cosmopolitan attitude of the people that attracts yearly 7,5 millions of tourists to the city. The scale of the city (see Location) permits nice and comfortable ways to explore the centre walking, biking, by trams or even by waterbike (www.canal.nl). In the Vondelpark, which is not bigger as a one hour walk, you will find the utmost variety of free expression in the green like guitar, drums, comedians, jugglers, tai chi, laugh meditation, street theatre, fire spitting, etc. especially in summer time!

Caravaggio and RembrandtCaravaggio and Rembrandt are the two great genuises of baroque painting. They are famous throughout the world for their forceful expression of powerful emotions, dramatic use of light and disturbing realism. For the first time these two revolutionary artists will confront each other face to face. The Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum are presenting in the Van gogh Museum an exhibition in which works by Rembrandt van Rijn (1606-1669) and Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio (1571-1610) will be seen side by side.
